First day: High Atlas Mountains, Ksar Ait Ben Haddou, and Ouarzazate
At 8 am, your guide will pick you up from your Riad, then it will be the departure for an unforgettable journey! In a few minutes we will leave Marrakech and start discovering the olive trees and cactus of the old caravan route. After 1 hour driving, we will arrive at a small Berber paradise located at the heart of the High Atlas Mountains; the Zat valley. After a one hour break to enjoy the wadi and the small villages hanging on the mountain and the fig trees, we will continue the road. With the inhabitants, you shall sip a delicious mint tea, before passing the Tichka pass, over 2260 m above sea level. It will be an opportunity to stop and take pictures of the beautiful landscapes.A side road will lead us to the valley of Ounila, and then a stop for a delicious traditional lunch at Ksar Ait Ben Haddou. This 1000-years-old fortified village, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is located along the ancient caravan route between the Sahara and Marrakech in the province of Ouarzazate. Then, your guide will take you on a tour of the Kasbah to drink a mint tea with the villagers, before going to visit the legendary film studios of Ouarzazate, where many famous films have been shooted, such as “Laurence of Arabia “,” Gladiator “or” Asterix and Obelix” . After a short ride in the Kasbah of Taourirt and the museum of cinema,an evening break will be a hotel or a riad.
Second Day: Valley of the Roses, Dades Valley, Todgha Gorge
After breakfast, we head the road to the gorges through the magnificent palm grove of Skoura with its thousands of palm trees stretching as far as the eye can see, and we will visit the Kasbah of Amridil and then pass through the beautiful valley of Roses and the incredible gorges of Dades, before stopping to visit on foot the impressive canyons of Todgha gorges, where you will spend the night in a small hotel or riad of the region.
Third Day: Tamtoucht, Goulmima, Erfoud, Merzouga, and Erg Chebbi
At 8:00, after your breakfast, we will leave the Todgha canyons to Gulumima, via Tamtoucht to admire its mountains and its rivers, lined with small villages. Then we will have a break to drink a mint tea in the city with a Berber family from the region. In Goulmima, we stop for a good lunch, then drive to Merzouga, our final destination today. On the way, we will pass through Erfoud, which is a city famous for its many fossils. Once we arrive at the dunes of Merzouga, we will take an hour to reach the magnificent desert of Erg Chebbi. There, after a tea of hospitality, we start the camel ride to enjoy the magnificent sunset. After admiring the starry sky of the desert, we will dine at the sound of local music, before going to bed. Day 4: Tazarine, Draa Valley, Black Canyon.
Day 4: Tazarine, Draa Valley, Black Canyon, Ouarzazate
After waking up to sunrise and enjoying your breakfast, we will return to your camel’s back to your accommodation to refresh ourselves, then we will return to Ouarzazate by a different path. We will pass by Alnif and Tazarine, famous for its delicious cumin and for its henna tattoos, and we will make a stop for a traditional lunch at the oasis of 45 kasbahs; Nkobe.We will go after to see the longest valley of Morocco, the Draa Valley, known for its many oases and palm trees. After visiting the palm grove with your guide-driver, we will take a walk to explore the heart of the Atlas and the Black Canyon. A few stops to cool off, drink a mint tea and take pictures later, we will arrive in Ouarzazate to spend the night in a small hotel or a Riad.
5th day: Ounila Valley, telouet Kasbah, Atlas Mountains
We will get up around 10am, as you may be a little tired by our trip the day before. We will be back to Marrakech the first 100 km by different road, so that you can explore all the pretty corners of the southern region, such as the beautiful Ounila valley, the small Berber villages, landscapes and the Kasbah of El Glaoui, Former Pasha of Marrakech. After lunch, we will pass through the Atlas Mountains, where we will take a break to drink a mint tea and take some pictures, before dropping us off at our accommodation in Marrakech.
